HOT on the heels of the
highly successful inaugural
Rookies, the 2010 event is
just around the corner.
I can still see the smile on the
faces of last year's winners, and
it was good to see them at the
Black Tie Awards Dinner shaking
hands and rubbing shoulders with
the "greats" of the game.
If you are an eligible Rookie, or
know of an eligible Rookie at your

To win a State title in your first
two years in the sport is a great
way to start your bowls career.
Each of the Zones has been
sent a list of eligible players, and
the entry forms are available from

I really don't like jingoes and
jargon. Give me plain English that

Barely a day goes by that we
don't get a phone call from an
aggrieved bowler believing they
have been mistreated, or their
club has acted unconstitutionally.

Once you have said Alternative

dred times, ADR starts to sound
good, believe me.
We are putting the final touches
to both an ADR resource and a

Update your constitution
As a result of the 2009 Incor-
porated Associations Act, if you
haven't got a clearly articulated
grievance system in place, you
assume the model constitution
So, now is the time to take
another look at your constitution
and check that what you have in
place is compliant.

Spare a thought for those clubs
up north caught in the big wet.
I know that may be difficult
for some clubs that have yet to
see any rain, but at least one club

five times in the last 12 months.
The patience of members must
be running a bit thin!
