THINGS seem somewhat quieter
in the office of late, largely
due to the departure of Chris
However, Michael Beaumont
has also been away from his desk
recently, and that trend will con-
tinue due to a medical procedure
We wish him a speedy recovery
so he can continue the great work
that he does for bowls in NSW.
OUR Reclink Bowls Program
has been running at Alexan-
dria Erskineville for the past few
weeks, and participant numbers
have been consistently around 25.
Several organisations have been
bringing along participants, with
good numbers from Wayside Chapel,
Mission Australia and Ozanam
Learning Centre St Vincent De Paul.

the results check out our website.
THERE are a number of disability
State championships coming up

One last event -- keep an eye
out in next month's issue for an
entry into a new event called the

Once again it has been a fan-
tastic response with over 500

ON MONDAY 19 July, Neil
Burkett drove away with this
year's Park Beach Ford Open
He scored the title after edg-
ing out Engadine's Nathan Wise
in a thrilling final.
With a raft of stars vying for
the prestigious crown, not to
mention the Ford Fiesta on offer,
Burkett wound back the clock
as the 550-game international
posted a 25-17 win.
Now the playing coach of
Club Merrylands, Burkett's lat-
est victory accompanies his win
in the men's pairs at last year's
-- Steve McGuiness, Bowls Co-ordinator,
Club Merrylands B&SC.
The format is kept pretty simple
and participants have been shown
the basics of the game, followed
by some fun activities involving
Fellow team member Andrew
Lynn has been assisting with delivery
of the program, and Alexandria
Erskineville has provided us with
their great facilities and access to
bowls and the green.
WE recently had a young bowler
from Raymond Terrace com-
plete two weeks work placement
Josh Wilton showed plenty of
initiative by contacting us and
submitting his resumé.
During his time with us he
worked with the development team
on a number of key projects, such
as updating the website, assist-
ing me with conducting Premier
League interviews, and creating
the Bowls NSW Facebook page.
Josh also assisted other staff
members by answering phone calls
and general office duties.
He is passionate about the game
and displayed a good knowledge
of bowls-related matters and the
people in our sport.
We hope he enjoyed his time
with the Bowls NSW Development
Team, and we wish him all the
best for the future.
ON 8 July I had the opportunity
to attend the Under 18 Girls
Championships at Windang BC.
The championships ran smoothly
with the Zone 16 and club officials
combining well with Andrew Lynn
to host an excellent event.
Though there were some big
scores in the 21 up game format,
it was obvious that the competi-
tors and spectators were enjoying
Congratulations to all the com-
petitors and parents for making
